Looking for the best outdoor security cameras can be a tough thing to do. There are a lot of different models and makes available and when you are looking for the top of the line, it is not easy to make that buying decision. Besides just looking at the price tag you need to know what you are getting. There are models that have the biggest price but the thing is that they are not necessarily the number one on the markets.

Besides just being the best outdoor security camera you need to make sure that it fits with your security system. Most of the models that are out there are actually compatible with all the most common systems available and when you need surveillance that will be protecting something very valuable, like your famiy, or even something classified, you will need the best class security system.

One thing in the best models that I have come across is that they all are very weather proof. Since you are looking for the best outdoor security cameras., it is important to make sure that they are going to be able to work in every possible outdoor situation. If the weather is going to be cold and at the same time humid, you will have a lot of condensation near the camera, and in some cases you can even have fog on the lense. This should not be accepted and with the best cameras there are usually an anti fog lense that will not get steamed up when the cold weather is warming slowly on the surface of the camera, or the other way around. Condensation usually happens when warm air starts to lose its temperature near a cold surface, and that is when the water starts to get separated from the humid air.

This is why not only the camera should be water proof but also all the wiring and eveything that is outside the house should be able to handle some rought weather. This should be checked by the manufacturer with sinking the camera in water. This way it will be sure that the camera will stand in rain even if it is raining the wrong way, from ground up. You won’t be getting any short circuits and possible delays in the image because of the humidity.

Looking for a camera which has built in infra red capabilities is a good idea. You should be able to switch it to infra red when you feel like the normal mode is not providing you with a good enough visual of your premises. In these cases it is usually too dark or even foggy to be able to see through the layer of water that is floating in front of the camera. The ir mode of the camera will be able to detect heat sources from the angle of view and show them to you as different shades of gray, or in some of the cameras the color range is varying all the way from black to white, with red green and blue in the middle. The hottest sources would be displayed with white and red, and the cold ones with blue and black.

Also a motor which enables you to change the ridection where the camera is pointing, is agood idea. This way you can point the camera to another direction when you feel like it, or when there is something interesting that is travelling in the image. You can also set it to motion follow, which will be looking after anything that moves in the picture. Usually you can set it to ignore small objects such as birds so that they won’t disturb your surveillance videos. It is a good idea to set the camera so that it comes back to the basic direction always when it is not following something. That way it will not miss something important happening. These options are usually built in with some of the best outdoor security cameras that you can get.
